ACTIVEMUSE.ORG ANNOUNCES PEACE, MUSIC & ARTS FEST
LINE-UP
Activemuse.org announces its 2nd annual PEACE,
MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL which will take place FRIDAY,
MAY 4, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. at the Kent Stage, 175
E. Main St., Kent, Ohio 1-(330) 677-5005
The admission to this year's event is only
$1.00, which goes toward the preservation of the historic
Kent Stage theater.
Activemuse.org is an organization dedicated to
promoting peace, justice and equality by presenting
a yearly activist music conference and arts festival
early in May in Kent, Ohio. In addition,
activemuse.org provides access to an online
community for activists, musicians, and other
artists through the website www.activemuse.org.
This year the activities include an anti-war art
show, information tables from peace activist
organizations, and anti-war speakers.This year
speakers scheduled to appear include: Greg Coleridge
(American Friends Service Committee),
John Bradley Deane(community activist,
member of the Kent Anti-War Committe),
Kendra Hix-Pacifico (long time member
of the May 4th Task Force), Elisabeth Kucinich,
wife of Congressman Dennis Kucinich,Leatrice Tolls
(Clev. Peace show co-ordinator/May 4 Task
Force Alumni since age 12/election reform
activist/artist).
The following musical acts will be included:
Gusti: THE original Cleveland folksinger, will
once again get the event off to a rousing start
(actually a rabble-rousing start).
Maura Rogers: A new Cleveland folksinger/
singer-songwriter,inspired by Mason Jennings, Martin
Sexton and Ani DiFranco, Maura offers strong vocals,
subtle guitar playing and thought-provoking lyrics.
Love Jack: are musicians from Woodshed Mercy,
Waterband, Shag, and KB and the Riptides. Love Jack
is two parts rhythm and two parts melody, and throws
down songs of peace that takes the mind on a journey
to the soul.
C.D. Truth: Formed in 1990 from the ashes of
Akron's deserted rubber factories, C.D. Truth has
been defying gravity for over a decade. Influenced
by The Who, Black Flag, Devo, Kiss, T. Rex, David
Bowie Olivia Newton-John and Ultravox, among others,
C.D. Truth is a hard rock punk trio rocketship.
Paul Michael: We are pleased to announce that
singer-songwriter Paul Michael from the legendary
Cleveland punk band "The Adults" will unveil his new
project, "Stuck On On" at our show. After seven or
so years of self-imposed exile, Paul cites influences as
diverse as the blues of 15-60-75, the eclecticism
of Pere Ubu, and the punk of the F Models He has
resurfaced with a collection of unique originals
of growing pains and high spirits.
The Kidney Brothers: Jack and Robert Kidney, the
core of 15-60-75 (with Terry Hynde, Frank Casamento,
and Bill Watson also known as the internationally
famous Numbers Band). Deeply grounded in pre-war and
post-war blues, jazz, and many other traditions, the
originality and creativity of the Kidney Brothers
are second to none.
The Patrick Sweany Band: The way he plays the
blues will make you believe in reincarnation.
John Goddard of the Riverfront Times says: "Purists
will agree that Sweany and his men accurately
portray the heart of the blues while creating
something completely unique and new. Those purists
will also wonder how a...white boy from Massillon,
Ohio got such a rich, robust blues sound."
